About Professor David Faulkner
I have spent much of my academic life (25 years) in the state sector. I was part of the four men team that set up the Said Business School in Oxford University; I ran the MBA there and was Director of both undergraduate and graduate studies in Oxford. I then ran the MBA at Royal Holloway University of London and am now an Emeritus Professor from London University. I also taught at Cambridge, Cranfield, Warwick. The Open and Henley Business Schools.
When I retired from London University, I set up a new college, Magna Carta College Oxford, focusing on the MBA, as I was convinced that the MBA, whatever its limitations, gave a young executive the grounding for a successful career in business, and particularly looked impressive on their CV.
I was also certain from my experience, that given adequate motivation every student could succeed to achieve an MBA and it was not necessary to pay the very large fees that top business schools charge in essence to buy their brand name. Furthermore the idea of taking at least one year off work to study a face to face MBA was not necessary, and burdened the student with unnecessary debt.
So on the back of MOOCS (Massive Open Online Courses promoted by MIT et al) I opened an online college that was both ‘learn as you earn’ and economic in fee terms, yet had the content quality of an Oxbridge programme with which I am very familiar. In this way you get the best of both worlds; a quality MBA without a high level of debt and no need to take a break in your career. Good Luck !

About Ian McPhee
I have over twenty years experience of authoring, teaching, tutoring, supervising and assessing at post and under-graduate level with Arden University (formerly RDI); University of Wolverhampton; the Open University and the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester. A similar period has also been spent supervising P/G and U/G dissertations. My principal subject areas are: Strategic Management; Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I have authored the course materials for a large number of post and undergraduate modules for the University of Wolverhampton and the Royal Agricultural University including: Strategic Management; Change Management; Enterprise Strategy; Business Strategy & Marketing; Strategic Entrepreneurship & Change; Enterprise: From Idea To Market and Global Entrepreneurship. I wrote and delivered the Change Management module to a group of MBA students in Tyumen, Siberia. The majority of assessed work for the modules I’m involved with is of a student-centred nature – both individual and team focused. The assignments invariably require students to focus on practical issues from their own work environment: how to spot what the key problems are; encouraging creative approaches towards solving them, and facilitating change mechanisms at individual, team and organisational levels.I have considerable consultation and business mentoring experience (past and current) with middle and senior management. In addition to undertaking business assists for the Institute of Innovation & Enterprise funded by Advantage West Midlands, I have worked with the European Bank For Reconstruction & Development to provide strategic and marketing support for their European-wide partner organisations. As well as the UK, I have undertaken consultancy projects in Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Cuba and St.Kitts & Nevis.
Working abroad and communicating with students from new, diverse cultures has always been a source of inspiration for me (I have experience in Denmark, Russia, Eire, Cyprus and Greece). One of my additional tasks used to be as an admissions tutor: visiting feeder colleges, attending recruitment fairs, talking with prospective students and helping them decide what benefits they could derive from studying abroad. In addition to teaching abroad, these recruitment visits have helped enormously in understanding the differences in national cultures (as well as the similarities) that can assist communication.
Paid work aside, I raised over £2k for the Child Brain Injury Trust by cycling Le Jog – Lands End to John O’Groats, all 900 odd miles of it! I have also recently cycled the Alpine and Pyrenean Raids and up some of the biggest climbs in Europe including Mont Ventoux, Le Col De Tourmalet and Hautacam. I play the guitar and love a wide variety of music genres.

I am the Dean and founder of the college, and have spent over 25Y in Higher Education in the UK teaching and…
About Professor David Faulkner
Good Luck !
