WHAT WILL YOU GET?

On successful completion you will receive two certificates. 

  • Pre-Masters Certificate by Magna Carta College 
  • Level 7 Certficate in Strategic Management and Leadership from CMI
Who should be pursuing PMP?

You should consider taking a pre-master’s course if any of the following applies to you:

Units:
Study Skills

This unit will prepare you for your future master’s course. You will develop your study skills and subject knowledge in your chosen area. You will understand the demands of UK postgraduate higher education, helping you to confidently start your degree.

Learning Outcomes

  • Know a range of study strategies and techniques
  • Academic Reading Skills enables you to improve your skills in academic research, reading and analysis
  • Practise intensive text comprehension skills, note-taking and summarising, critical thinking, reasoning and self-reflection.
  • Academic Writing enables you to write a case study, argument essay and a report, to effectively summarise and evaluate secondary sources, and to apply your reading to a specific issue or question in an essay.
  • Develop the micro skills necessary for writing at this level: prewriting, planning, brainstorming, editing, text organisation and rewriting.
  • Seminar and Interview Skills enables you to develop and practise listening and speaking skills in the areas of: group presentations, voice and pronunciation, listening to lectures and news, and engage in critical discussions.
  • Learn to employ correct quotation, paraphrasing and citation techniques, and to write a bibliography following academic conventions.
  • Widen your library research skills and develop the necessary extensive and intensive reading skills as preparation for writing and seminar assignments at master’s level.
Research Methodology

This unit will give students an appreciation of the significance of research and provide students with research skills, knowledge and understandings of a postgraduate research project.

Learning Outcomes

  • To build awareness of issues in research design, especially different approaches to qualitative and quantitative processes in management research
  • To develop skills in qualitative and quantitative research selection, design and analysis
  • To evaluate research approaches and their outcomes, and apply these approaches appropriately
  • To develop and enhance practical research skills including the use and evaluation of journals and other sources
Strategic project management

This unit is about understanding the development of a project plan and its impact on strategic objectives.

Learning Outcomes

  • Assess the purpose of project planning and management
  • Analyse how projects impact on the strategic objectives of an organisation
  • Discuss the roles of a project sponsor and other project stakeholders
  • Explain the need to scope and identify specification to develop a project plan
  • Discuss the phases necessary in the construction of a project plan
  • Explain the process of gaining project implementation agreement
  • Assess the methods for securing stakeholder support for project implementation and operations
  • Explain the evaluation process to measure project performance to meet strategic objectives
Reviewing organisational strategy plans and performance

This unit is about reviewing current strategic aims and objectives, analysing progress towards their achievement and evaluating alternatives.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the current strategic aims and objectives
  • Undertake an evaluation of the component parts of a strategic plan, including the objectives
  • Analyse the factors affecting the strategic plan
  • Apply a range of strategic analysis tools to audit progress towards strategic aims and objectives
  • Evaluate the expectations of all stakeholders and their influence upon the organisational strategy
  • Produce a structured evaluation of the organisational strategic position
  • Develop a range of alternative strategic options to meet strategic aims and objectives
  • Justify the strategic option that meets the revised strategic position

This programme will result in a Pre-Masters Certificate awarded by Magna Carta College along with a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership  awarded by Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Academic: One or more of the following:

  • Recognised higher/advanced diploma in a related subject area
  • Recognised degree in related field (e.g. BSC Business Studies)
  • Honours degree in any subject (e.g. BA International Relations)

English language: Academic IELTS for UKVI score of 5.5 (with 5.5 in all subskills)

Age: 20+

You can start your Pre-Masters Programme at any time. Once started, the programme takes 3 months to complete

The programme is delivered via Flexible Distributed Learning (FDL) method through which you can study through our online learning platform with convenience.

No exemptions are allowed for this programme.

In addition to a completed application form on our website, please provide:

  • Copies of your relevant certificates and/or transcripts.
  • Copy of your CV detailing your work history (covering the last five years).
  • Proof of English language ability (IELTS), if English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English.
